My dear friend Ruthann gave me this super awesome water bottle. It holds 64 ounces and comes equipped with a built-in straw and a freezeable cylindar to keep your beverage cold. Ever since I've started using it I have easily met my daily water goals.
I can't figure out why this amazing bottle is helping me meet my goals, but so easily, but I have a couple theories:
- Having my entire 64oz requirement in my hands all at the same time make my goal more tangible and I know what I need to accomplish by the end of the day
- Drinking through a straw seems to be faster for me than sipping from a cup or traditional water bottle spout
- Because it's easy and more efficient to make one big jug of flavored water (I use Hawaiian Punch
) I don't have to be bothered with making it multiple times during the day, therefore saving time and excuses/whining.

ReplyDeleteI thought we weren't suppose to use a straw after WLS. I use to drink tons of fluid prior to surgery,but with a straw. Sure do miss it....
ReplyDelete@Tressa - yes, some surgeons restrict the use of straws. Some forever (which I absolutely don't understand) but most for only the first few weeks post-op. My surgeon advised against using a straw for the first 6 weeks. Once I learned how to control my sipping and fluid intake on a new pouch, I was allowed to drink however I wanted to drink. If our surgeon says no straws -- ask him WHY you're not allowed. I've seen no biological or anatomical reason why we can't drink with a straw after WLS.
