Strawberry Protein Ice Cream Shake

DSC_6869Strawberry Ice Cream?  For breakfast? Yep.... I did it!  And it was delicious - and 100% legal for WLS folks like you and me.

This recipe hinges on the Ninja Master Prep blender. I'm quickly falling in love with this thing!

Strawberry Protein Ice Cream Shake

Ingredients

  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 scoops Strawberry Body Fortress Protein Powder (or whatever strawberry protein powder you prefer)
  • 1 strawberry SF drink stick (I use Wylers Light)
  • 1 tablespoon Splenda
  • 1 splash lemon juice (for tartness that makes it taste like sorbet)
  • 1 cup frozen strawberries
  • 1 cup ice (adjust based on how many strawberries you use)

  • As always, I also added UpCalD (calcium citrate) and FiberSure to my shake.

NOTE: This recipe makes 2 large servings and you'll split it in half - so I've suggested double the protein powder as a normal shake. If you're going to cut the recipe for a single serving, then also be sure to only use 1 scoop protein powder.

Add everything to the Ninja large blending jar. Pulse until all ice and strawberries are pulverized and well blended. Then let the Ninja whirl for an extra minute to give it an extra creaminess. The shake will come out similar to a Wendy's Frosty consistency -- soft serve ice cream that needs to be eaten with a spoon but if you suck really hard you can use a straw. Pour the Strawberry Protein Ice Cream Shake to a couple of tall glasses and enjoy!

I didn't have anyone to share my big shake with, so I put the other half in the freezer to harden into a more solid ice cream. I'll enjoy my ice cream later for an afternoon snack.

SIDE NOTES:

  • I made a small, but essential, adjustment to the original Chocolate Protein Ice Cream Shake from the other day. With the addition of SF chocolate pudding mix, the ice cream comes out thicker and creamer and much more chocolatey. Go check it out for details.
  • Did you notice that FiberSure link above? It's only $2.02 a bottle. I bought some from Amazon several weeks ago and have been using it. FiberSure changed their name to Clear and Natural but the old packaging on the FiberSure bottles is being cleared out of warehouses -- it looks like that Amazon seller still has a bunch to get rid of. The expiration date on mine was a few years out still. If you use fiber supplements, I highly recommend you pick up a dozen or two bottles of this while it's still only $2/jar.
